From Brooklyn Vegan late last night came this intriguing snippet of news:
According to reliable sources, it’s finally happening in 2010! There will be multiple, possibly four, nights of shows at NYC’s Central Park Summerstage in September of that year. That could be part of a tour. That could be the end of a tour, the middle of a tour, or even the beginning of a tour, but it seems reasonable to speculate that they might make their official comeback at Coachella in April.
One of the most underrated and influential bands of the late 20 century, Pavement’s music, fronted by enigmatic Stephen Malkmus, made a wide-ranging impact on fans of alternative, LoFi rock. Their mix of styles across five albums coupled with Malkmus’ unpredictable nature (apparently the rest of the band discovered that Pavement were no more via the Internet) earned the band a cult following until their demise in 2000. This news of a potential reunion (and ATP curation if you really wanna get your hopes up) has brought indie fans to their knees. We await confirmation with baited breath….
