Time is a Thief – Our Game (Single)
“…owes as much in its riffage to Trent Reznor’s more confrontational & immediate moments as it does to the pop-punk legion of influences…”
Pop is a contentious subject matter, particularly in the realms of rock’n'roll, and no band in recent memory walks that fine line with as much grace and care as Cork’s Time is a Thief. Their last effort, Identity, saw them hit their stride in a big way, a rollicking, melodic extravaganza that packed as much punch as it did concise songwriting nous.
New single Our Game, a taster for their upcoming album, continues in that vein, and sees the band continue to refine their influences further. The result is a slick, straightforward pop broadside that owes as much in its riffage to Trent Reznor‘s more confrontational & immediate moments as it does to the pop-punk legion of influences Drop-d noted last time around, and should more than placate fans of both. Bass-heavy, strident and done with conviction.
If this is anything to go by, Time is a Thief‘s LP will see them place their own indelible stamp on the face of Irish rock’s mainstream.
