Last month, Dublin band The Minutes launched their new single Secret History taken from their forthcoming album Marcata, due for release later this year.

The Minutes, Secret History

The launch party took place at Academy 2 with support from Kid Karate and The Looks and was followed by an appearance in Stephen’s Green clothes shop Counter Propaganda the following night at 7pm

Over the past few years The Minutes have gigged tirelessly throughout Ireland and the UK touring with Albert Hammond Jnr (The Strokes) and The Pigeon Detectives, and playing support to Fountains Of Wayne and Supergrass to name a few.

The band were always hell bent on succeeding, they started playing with one clear goal and it wasn’t to mess around “Of course we all enjoy it but I don’t think any of us would be content in settling for gigging in pub bands. We learned our trade that way but the goal was always bigger, and that still stands.”

The band are currently working with renowned producer Gareth Mannix, who previously produced for Republic of Loose and Humanzi. Last summer the band also started the much talked about “Gigs in your Gaff” shows, which, if you haven’t guessed it means they play a gig…in your gaff.  Simple concept, they come to your house and play a show.

When asked ahead of time about the launch the band replied that they felt “Excited. Feels like its gonna be a special night. We’ve put a lot of hard work into getting the album together. We’ve put three dirty years in so-far and now we’re ready for the slog. Secret History is the lead single, the talisman.
We wanna give the single a proper send off and put on fucking rock ‘n’ roll show that gets people as excited as we are.”

Their enthusiasm really showed on the night. Academy 2 was packed to the rafters with fans and the band put on a great show. They listed some of their more memorable shows where previously  Shane Kinsella jumped Micka Wallace-style over the kit to confront some asshole that kept knocking over our shit. The crowd at The Quill going fucking nuts. Crowdsurfing moshing etc, also ripping the lights from the ceiling.”

Their enthusiasm for performing makes them a really exciting, oldschool live band. Their upcoming gigs include:

31st August: Indiependence Music & Arts Festical, Co. Cork
