Drop-d has often been accused of being overly Cork-centric in recent times. Wahey. We’re based here. But it’s far, far from a matter of convenience. The fact is Cork has, from top to bottom, a fucking A1 music scene that deserves a wider audience. One blog doesn’t have the ability to do so for sure, but when people start throwing their weight in behind their local scene, well, all the better for everyone.

Someone else who’s firmly proud of Cork music is local Claire O’Regan (nom-de-plume Spill), who since December has hosted Rebel Revolutions, a monthly show dedicated to all things red and white and music all over. It’s about bloody time someone on local radio spoke up for Cork acts, Ms. O’Regan, along with Michael Carr and Colm O’Sullivan represent a minority willing to fight the good fight for Cork bands (and indeed Irish alternative on Cork airwaves), and her enthusiasm is evident, right down to the presser for her show. If only there were more like her in her line of business… In any case: listen in the widget below. You’ll be glad you did.
