Slow Magic & Zombie Computer @ Cyprus Ave.
A big blast of independent electronics at Cyprus.
Nothing like when two Cork gig promoters come together and have a good old lark. Indie lads Alliance have teamed up with the boys from Noize Kulture for a shindig on Friday, August 10th at Cyprus Ave.
The line-up is a nice cross-section of the indie-pop/electro crossover here in the city, with anonymous types Slow Magic headlining over Zombie Computer & REID solo, as well as the emergent Sad Soul Circus. Should be a laugh!
Here’s a good, long and elaborate blurb:

• ▬▬▬▬▬▬ SLOW MAGIC ▬▬▬▬▬▬ •
Making music while staying anonymous in the Internet age isn’t only difficult, it’s fun. A couple weeks ago, Slow Magic comprised of an “unknown imaginary friend” bubbled up from nowhere with an incredibly delicious single, “Sorry Safari. The glo-fi outfit whispered into the conversation like a mysterious woman at a cocktail party— who is that stranger? That hair, that dress! Who’s she here with? You ask the host, but they don’t have any idea, and everyone seems too shy to go up and speak to her. And so you’re content with just gazing quickly, taking sly looks while nuzzling your cocktail nonchalantly, tapping your foot to the beat.

• ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ZOMBIE COMPUTER ▬▬▬▬▬▬ • new live set •
Zombie Computer is an electo-indie band from Cork. The band was formed in 2010 and has quickly built up a strong following. The lineup features Vincent Murray [Vocals & Guitar] and Scimon Tist [Synths Samples, Programming & Production]. Vincent had previously performed as part of The Vital Spark.
The band made its recorded debut with the release of ‘This Cover’ EP which featured Zombie Cops interpretations of tracks by The White Stripes, Pictureplan and OMD. In May of 2011, the trio released ‘Get Over You’ which served as a taster from the band’s soon to be released debut album. That album, ‘Indian Summer’ followed a month later on Psychonaviagtion Records. The record was well received.
In February 2012, the group released a reworking of The Frank & Walters track ‘The Parson’ as a free download from their Bandcamp site.

• ▬▬▬▬▬▬ SAD SOUL CIRCUS ▬▬▬▬▬▬ •
Hailing from New york city, Cork based Sad Soul Circus aka Finn Yowell has spent the past year deluging into the world of electronic music production with a style influenced by a diverse range of genres. Currently his productions hold a taint sound similar to the likes of gold panda, mmoths and pretty lights. Although with his roots based in traditional irish music and drumming there is a distinction between his ambient glitchy sample based tracks and others in the chillwave/glo-fi electronica genre. Sad soul circus attributes his live sets to sample based glitchey chillwave/glo-fi sets with subtle hints of hip hop, DnB, dubstep and house.
