I was lucky enough to see Mr Gallagher at Lewisham Odeon and he was a fantastic guitarist that needs far more recognition than he gets, A legend.

Great story “OneForTheRoad”! Rory was the best. The thing is, out of all those quotes, I think I like the Italian ticket inspector’s remarks best. I think Rory would have too.

I once got in trouble with an Italian ticket inspector on a train near Milan.

I was trying to explain that I didn’t speak Italian and that I was Irish and not English as he thought.

I tried U2, Guinness and Roy Keane before it dawned on me. Liam Brady. Hero in Italy.

When I said this he goes ‘aaaaah Brady, si si. Irlanda.’

Then he shakes his head.

‘Irlanda. Rory Gallagher. Rory Gallagher’ and played air guitar at me.
