Playlist: Nicola Cosgrove
Rites’ low end ritualist Nicola Cosgrove provides us with some fave tunes.
PJ Harvey – Meet Ze Monsta
I’ve loved PJ Harvey since my early teens. She’s an extremely interesting artist in the way she changes with each album. Live – this was my favourite period seeing her as she had an amazing backing band with her, real big, loud, ballsy live shows.
YOB – Adrift in the Ocean
YOB are one of the best bands Ive ever seen. I loved The Great Cessation album, but Atma was the album that really got me. This song is beautiful – I love the drums at the end – this is going to sound trippy but I always think of whales surfacing when I hear it – incredibly soothing.
Beach House – Norway
Me and the Boy travelled across Norway by train there back in January, drank loads of rum, took in the amazing scenery and had a deadly time. This song soundtracks that holiday perfectly.
Young and in the Way- Times are Cold
Mind-blowing, relentless album!
Conan – Retaliator
I first came across Conan when they did this split with Slomatics, unreal artwork, sweet riffs, both unreal bands.
And so onto the plug – Conan are touring here in October with Rites playing the Cork and Galway gig. Looking forward to it!
