Ant, of DJ collectives Generic People and In Our Honest Opinion, picks us his summer tunes.

Diplo ft Nicky Da B – Express Yourself

This has been one of the biggest tracks in my sets this year, and it finally gets a full release this week on the MAD DECENT label. When Diplo is not staring in adverts for Blackberry or hanging out with Hollywood’s royalty he still has it in him to produce monster tracks like this that refuse to be pigeon holed by genres. You really have to see the video for this….

Dub Phizix – ‘Never Been ft. FOX’

Critical Records have got a huge summer smash on their hands right here. The infectious rhymes and flow from the FOX sitting tightly on top of Dub Phizix’ raw, rolling beats. If you don’t find yourself freaking out to this beast at a festival or event this summer, then you
are really going to the wrong gigs!

Amine Edge & Dance – ‘Going To Heaven with The Goodie-Goodies’

Out early July on the 2DIY4 label, it samples the classic ‘Suicidal Thoughts’ from the Notorious B.I.G. With big room house music in general being in a sickening state and continuing to be murdered by the likes of the Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Paris Hilton and friends, its nice to find a rare gem amongst the shit. Amine Edge keeps it simple and building up the elements into a (..ahem)’ hands in the air’ anthem, reminding us of how good house music is capable of making us feel.

Voodoo Ray – Generic People edit

A Guy Called Gerald’s all-time classic acid house anthems get a dark-disco 2012 treatment from yours truly. This was put together especially for the DJ sets but has been getting a huge reaction all around. Slowed down to 115bpm with the beats fattened up and an all new breakdown this badboy has been given a whole new lease of life…

Young Wonder – Lucky One

Corkman Ian Ring has been creating quite a stir over the last few months since the release of the self-titled debut Young Wonder EP back in April. And rightly so too, with a very fresh new sound and an vibrant live show , this could be one of the biggest electronic acts to come out of Ireland in a long while… mark my words!
