Dropped" Ezine has just been informed that Lotus Lullaby have been selected to play the IMRO best of tour gig in
Dublin in the Village on June 18th.
They must have made a good impression. Dropped" wish them all the best" congratulations from the team.

How would describe the music of Lotus Lullaby to somebody who's never heard them"

Lotus Lullaby play a new genre of music called
'Collisionism'. We invented this genre ourselves.
It means taking many different styles and genres and
making them collide into a joyous explosion of sound.

However it is only possible for one band to occupy
this genre as only the greatest band in the world can
play Collisionism properly.

We mix the riffs and power of rock with the groove and
soundscapes of dance and electronica" and have been
likened to Bowie" Muse" Nine Inch Nails" Depeche Mode"
even the Divine Comedy.

I love music that is BIG and that is what I like to
make" BIG music.

How did the band form"

Lotus Lullaby has been my baby for about three years
now. It started with me playing my songs on guitar with a backing track and evolved
from there. I put the band together over a few months last year. I went through various
musicians over the last couple of years and finally found three who were all great
musicians and saw where I was coming from with my songs. Myself and Dylan "guitar"
were in music college together and I met John through Dylan" as he also drums in Dylan's
band "My Evil Ex'.I found Conor "bass" through seeing him play with another band and
promptly stole him.So far we have played six gigs with the full band and have had fantastic
responses to them" it's so good to finally get out there with three other guys on stage with
you" it's such a different energy. We've done the Savoy" the Br"g" the Bodega" Doran's in Dublin"
but my favourite gig was the Imro showcase because that's the night we turned Cypress avenue
into a mini arena"

What are the plans for the coming months" "e.g. new e.p." gigs"…"

Well we are playing in the Cruiscin Lan next Saturday
the 28th with Dwight" then taking a break
from gigging in June to practice new songs and get super tight. The E.P. will be available to
buy from me at the gig
or in Pugd records. Everyone should buy it" it's fantastic . We hope to
return with a headline slot in Cypress avenue around September" but until then we are mainly
doing support slots to get our name out there and
establish a fan base. We're hoping to play
Dublin over the summer.

Ye come across as very accomplished live. How often do the band rehearse"

Well" to be honest" not enough. It was hard to get time to practice with the two guys
in the other band and me working nights" but it's all ok now because I was fired from
my job for taking too much time off for Lotus Lullaby. We believe that entertaining
your audience is extremely important" and we do our best to give people value for money
and a great night out. That's why we are so wired when we perform" At the end of the day
we are a pop band and we are there to make people happy. We want to give people a show
they'll never forget and
that they can go home from caked in sweat with big smiles on
their faces.

Where do ye do you"re recording"
I do all the recording" mixing and mastering myself with my shitty Samick practice amp"
a yamaha keyboard and Cubasis" which is a primitive version of cubase. Technology is an
indispensable tool in the creation process for this band" it means I can record whole armies
of guitars and vocals by myself on a rainy day in my bedroom in Cork and it sounds like a
thousand Gavin"s singing into the grand canyon in a thunderstorm. I don't get out much.
We hope to record in a proper studio when we have
more cash though" which will probably benefit
my social life and skin colour.

What's you're favourite venue in Cork"
My favourite venue in Cork" hmm… Well Cypress avenue is great" so is the Savoy but I think
our colossal sound and stage show are more suited to enormous gargantuan venues like
Pairc Ui Coaimh. We want to bring stadium rock back and share our music with as many people
as possible. So maybe ask me again in a couple of years when we're headlining stadiums.

Are there any Cork based bands that you're listening to at the moment"
Rulers of the Planet" we did a gig with them last week. Really nice guys but also a seriously
talented band who write short sharp catchy tunes and do a
maniacal stage show. Excellent album
too. Echogram are favourites of mine also. There are a few really good bands around at the mo"
Sylvia Saint" Queen Kong" My Evil Ex… However" the band I listen to the most is Lotus Lullaby
because I absolutely love this band and it's my favourite band in the whole world.

What's you're favourite Irish album of the last 12 months"
Well" we don't have an album out yet so I'll go with Rulers.

If you could share a pint in The Br"g with anybody in the world" who would it be"

David Bowie. I don't get star"struck at all but would love to talk about music and the industry
with one ofthe greatest songwriters and performers of all time.

If Natalie Portman came knocking on you're door and fancied a night out in town"
where would you bring her"

Interesting you should ask" Natalie's actually joint No. 1 on my list of most beautiful
celebrities" along with Kathleen" the oriental one from Hi"5. I would take her to a Lotus Lullaby
gig of course and then the Brog for the great music and late bar. These are great questions"

96fm or Red fm"
Red FM.

Boxers or Y Fronts"
Neither. Pink sequined thong.

What was the first gig you attended"

Michael Jackson at Pairc Ui Caoimh. Amazing. I was
only eight at the time but I think somewhere
in my little heart I knew I would grow up to play there some day too…

And what was the last one you attended"

Well I'm going to see Nine Inch Nails in London in July" but I went to see Sylvia Saint
in Virgin today" that was my last gig attended

And finally" if the rest of Lotus Lullaby found themselves trapped in the middle of The Lough
and couldn't get out" who would be you're dream band mates that you could recruit to replace
them"

I'd buy a space cruiser and pilot it over the vast expanse of water to get the lads back. If I
arrived to find they had been pecked to death by ravenous killer ducks I'd get Muse to fill in
and get Trent Reznor to play Keyboards
