What in the name of sweet Jesus links Quentin Tarantino to club one" I'll tell you what . . . The 5"6"7"8's. remember the Japanese punk heroines that played some tunes as Uma Thurman went on a slashing spree in Kill Bill Vol 1" Well they're coming to Leeside.
So who are they " how did they end up in one of the most critically claimed films of recent times"
The 5"6"7"8's are a trio of punk infested Chuck berry fans who create rock and roll using distortion and noise and screaming. We've got Yoshiko "Ronnie" Fujiyama on guitar/vocals" Sachiko on drums and Saki on Bass.
The band started out in the club circuits of Japan way back in 1986 but it wasn't until Tarantino heard their music in a second hand shop in Tokyo "and immediately requested that they star in the film" that they were introduced to a global audience.
Since their Hollywood cameo the 5.6.7.8's have toured the US " Europe extensively" gaining themselves some new friends. They're already legends in Japan's underground garage"rock scene and if you fancy doing your research before they conquer Club One" then get your hands on "Bomb the Rocks"" a record that chronicles 27 tracks between 1989 and 1996.
The 5.6.7.8.'s played Club One on thursday the 28th of July.
