What inspired ya to become a solo artist"

I come from a musical family and always knew i could
sing" so decided to learn the piano and guitar and did
a songwriting course and it went from there.

What do ya find most beneficial of being a solo act"

You are your own boss. You can do what you want
musically with no arguements and come and go as you
please" however there are loads of advantages of being
in a band too.

You've played with the likes of Juliet Turner" Eleanor
McEvoy and Nina Hynes. Do you see yourself as being
along those lines"

No not really" I really like Nina Hynes though.I think
she's very different. We'd be similar in a way as we
both use drum programming as backing tracks.

Listening to your tracks i think your Corks female
answer to David Gray.Nice guitar and cool piano style
with a strong backing vocal.Happy with that
description"

Yeah thanks for the compliment. That's the first time
someone has said i sound similar to David Gray. He's
someone i don't really listen to" but i do like some
of his earlier stuff.

Do ya ever wear the veil at gigs"

No" only for photographs" when i want to hide my face.

Where did that idea come from"

I don't really know" i guess it's a ghostly mystical
image which i like.

When did ya start getting into music in general"

About 10 years ago" when i did that songwriting
course" i stared meeting musicians" doing supports
etc…

What was the last gig you went to see"

Last fri night i went to see the Trash Can Sinatras"
and sat night i went to the House Of Love in Cyprus
Ave.Both were great gigs" especially the Trash Can
Sinatras.

Can you name 3 famous people you'd like to have dinner
with and if you had to ask them each a question" what
would it be"

1.Paul Buchanan from The Blue Nile
2.Liz Frazer from The Cocteau Twins
3.Kate Bush

I'd ask Paul would he marry me" that is if he's not
married already.
I'd ask Liz what beautiful language is she singing.
I'd ask Kate to teach me to play the piano properly.

What would ya like on the menu"

I could'nt really eat if i was having dinner with
these people" just drinking loads of wine.Thai food is
my favourite.

What do ya like to do when you're not writing and
singing"

Going to the cinema" reading " currently reading
angels and demons by Dan Brown" Seeing gigs" walking
in the country.

Falling

"quot"Speaking up" getting hurt" wishing not and falling
down"quot"

"quot"Taking the risk has made me aware of my loving and
what it brings"quot"

Is there an element of regret here leading towards a
more fullfilling redemption"

Yes i guess. It's telling someone you really like them"
and them telling you" sorry i'm not interested" and
really regretting saying it.However there is a
positive outlook" where by taking a risk might end in
tears but also it proves by taking the risk you can
learn to love someone and this is a good thing.

Did ya find this redemption and sense of control on
your track Untitled"

"quot"I am all alone here you left me on the way"quot"
"quot"loved you from afar and never said it"quot"
"quot""quot"You've found the place you wanna go and i've watched
it"quot" "quot"goodbye"quot"

Yes in a way. This song is about spending time with
someone" but it's not a really a love story" its about
someone who wants to end their life"ie" walking into
the sea and never coming back"

How has your songwriting changed in your latest album"

"quot"The Ever Changing Colours Of The Sea"quot" is more me and
more controlled vocally. All the songs are quiet
different stylistically eventhough there's a common
theme running through the album.

Has the beautiful home of kinsale been an influence in
your writing"

The old head of kinsale has been a huge influence in
my writing. It's an amazing place to grow up in" very
isolated and wild.I love writing about the sea" trees
etc…I love the use of imagry in songs.

What are the plans for the new album "quot"the ever
changing colours of the sea"quot""

I'm trying to get distribution for the album" i want
to tour it and possibly get a record deal.

Refering back to the kinsale question i guess that was
a big influence looking at the title"

Yeah it was" i wrote a poem on a cliff edge near my
house in the old head" which refers to the album
title.
"quot"me myself and i seek over the vast open sea" crazed
by it's openness" frightened by it's powerfulness.i
only exist" i barley exist.Pick me up by the wind and
lay me down with the last day of summer" somewhere
where no one
will find me" and there let me rest in peace with the
ever changing colours of the sea"quot"
