If you've still got some energy left over from the U2 gigs" and you don't exactly fancy a trip down Centre Park Road to listen to Ronan Keating in a tent" then may drop"d recommend that you take a stroll down to Douglas St. one of our favourite singer"songwriters of 2005. The man's name is" Josh Rouse.

You've probably all ready heard his song ' Winter in the Hamptons ' on the radio. Today Fm are playing it till the cows come home. It's the first single of his latest album ' Nashville '. Don't be fooled by the title though. It's not a country album. What's even more contradictory" is the fact that Josh no longer lives in Nashville. After living there for 10 years and producing 4 albums" he decided to pack his bags prior to the release of his current album" and move to emm . . . Spain. But even if he has swapped the deep south for sangria and salsa" the songs show how much America's most musical city had an affect on him.

" There's no other place like it in the world. Just the history of the people who have played on great records . . . This record is kind of a homage". Rouse states" " It's a kind of thank you to Nashville".

America's loss this year" is Europe's gain. Josh's extensive European tour will include a trip to Oxegen followed by an extensive Irish tour. If you need any proof that this man can perform the most important gig in Cork this summer" then take one listen to ' Nashville '. It's so perfect" it's too good to be true. As relaxing as Neil Young on Harvest" as melodic as Brian Wilson on Smile and has as many postcards and portraits as you'd find on a John Spillane album. Take it from me" it is the hidden gem of the year.

AND" he's supported by Ireland's most under"rated performer" Joe Chester" an artist who dropped" Ezine have championed from day one.

My recommendation is that you buy both their albums today and on July 13th" head into Fionnbarra's on Douglas St. for a quart and a baked potato out in the beer garden" then head over to The Vault for a mid"summer's night of sizzling harmonies. Trust us on this one"
