… The Berries
"quot"The Berries are about a lot of things. Freedom of expression"
friendship" loss" loves but firstly music. Some of our songs have
been thought through and some have been written on impulse and instinct.
Some try to get a message across and some rely on your own interpretation
to provoke meaning. All have one thing in common" The coming together
of friends of diverse musical backgrounds to create a sound that we
strive to make meaningful and spiritual as well as danceable and different.
So separate and tap into sweet soul music to satisfy the mind" body
and spirit"quot" "

| The Berries hit the irish music Scene for the first time in 2003 and quickly got round to recording there first Ep in May of last year. With these boys its all about rock and roll" |
Listening to their
tracks for the first time" well lets just say they got my head swayin
up and down listening to Richie blasting out the vocals to "quot"Seperate"quot"
while Peter delights us with envyous sounds of classic rock licks and
slide on lead guitar. The Rythm taken care by two boys on bass and drums
charlie and jamie.
"quot"All I know is that im wasted"quot" " "something we can all correspond
with at some stage in our lives" lyrics from the track "quot"Wasted"quot""
show again the range and strength of Richie's Vocals. The track mirroring
the sweet"funky mellow riffs at the start" with an element of heaviness
in the chorus and the break. The end fading out eerily with a choir like
chant in the background "quot"la la la la"quot".Really impressive lads.
The boys
had an eventful 2004 winning the prestigous 96fm/Murphy's Cork Battle
of the bands then goin on to release their new Ep"quot"If they don't
care why should I"quot" in Cyprus Avenue in November just in time
to premote Cork Capital of culture a few weeks ago" The lads played
over 40 gigs all over ireland in 2004 lets just hope that 2005 holds
the same if not bigger things in store for them.NEXT GIG: Wed 2nd Feb" CYPRUS AVENUE" supporting Rep. of Loose. E10
