Last week" we had the opportunity to speak with Scarlet from FreakFM
to ask her about how the station got up and running" who's involved
and what's the plan for the future. Here's what she had to say…

Freakfm has been around for years it all started in a shed in mallow
in September 2000" It was Darkmaster the brains of the operation who
started it. Dj Spoons was and is one of the original djs who was there
from the beginning. It
then moved to Cork Feb. 2001 and was broadcasting
for 6 months or round about. And then it re"launched in 2004 properly
and is still running thanks to the freakfm board and all the djs.

We have 23 djs "see schedule" on site at present. They range from the ages
of 17 to 40s age wise. The djs on the station have different styles of music
ranging form funk" indie" rock" metal" to down right weird. Freakfm are an
alternative station that caters for a big audience ranging from people in
there teens to people in there 50s. There are a few cab drivers with us tuned
into their cars" which is cool. We like to think that we provide Cork City
with a different choice of music and entertainment. We have come along way
from the shed and we weren"t all here from the very start. Some of us jumped
aboard this boat some swam and some unfortunately
sank but one has to learn
somewhere.

We had our anniversary party Fri Feb. 25th it was a get to know each other for
the djs as there is 23 there and they are different days it was a good chance
for them to meet. We had an award ceremony" the polls we posted on the board
for the public to
vote" which was fair and interesting also" The awards went
to as follows:

Entertainment Award " Chad and Catharsis " a cucumber vibrator and a porn star
name plate
Best Dj " dj Sin " a grass head
Best weird tunes" kid fx and dj monophob"animal handbag cd cases
Most Metal mad " dj Nailbombed " a blow up cow
Best Duo" Djs Chad and Catharsis " a furry boob each
Mad hatter Award " Dr.know " Pamela Anderson breasts

We invited some of the people from the message board www.freakm.com who came
along some in drag.
Dj spoons was the presenter of the awards that night and djs darkmaster" chad
" nailbomed and scruff were banging out the tunes.
