Manchester based singer songwriter Stephen Fretwell has confirmed a one off solo date at Dublin"s Sugar Club on Sunday" 28 October 2007. Tickets priced "17.50 inclusive of booking fee are available from all usual Ticketmaster outlets nationwide from Saturday 29 September 2007.
You"d like Stephen Fretwell and not just because he has a stock of libellous anecdotes about former boy band members" an easy going charm and he"ll laugh at your jokes if you kick his shins. In addition to his incredible talent he"s terrific company " qualities that have attracted admirers such as film director Cameron Crowe and acclaimed British director Dominic Savage who used Fretwell"s Play and New York in his film Love + Hate.
The Scunthorpe born songster recently released his second album" Man on the Roof and has made a significant step forward from his debut" Magpie. Man on the Roof varies in mood from the plaintive "Darlin" Don"t" to the more lighthearted live favourite "William Shatners Dog" but the running theme of the album is" as Stephen himself says" "Meeting a girl and getting cheered up by her".
After the extensive touring and promotion of Magpie" Stephen took off to New York where he met producer Eli Janney "Garbage and Ryan Adams". It was there he recorded Man on the Roof in Janney"s Brooklyn studio.
