Everyone’s favourite feast of the unsigned is back this year again, and the Double-Dizzle has the scoop on how you can get involved. Of course, if you’re on the HWCH mailing list, you already know this, but we feel that a matter of such import should be spread like processed cheese onto a salty cracker.

hwch1The big news of course, is that northern rock  gods And So I Watch You From Afar are playing a free show in Tower Records this Tuesday, good news indeed. The Irish Festival for Irish Bands

HWCH call for bands 09, Tuesday 30 June
6.15pm Freebird Records (Secret Book & Record Store) Wicklow St
6.45pm Road Records, Fade St (chips)
7.15pm Tower Records, Wicklow St (pizza)

You are cordially invited to eat chips and pizza while you watch a band at each stop on a tour of Dublin’s finest Indie Record shops to celebrate the launch of the 7th Hard Working Class Heroes Festival.

Hard Working Class Heroes Festival will be inviting Irish Bands and Photographers to apply for inclusion in 2009’s festival as well as announcing full details of what will be happening at the event this year. Entries this year will be through FMC’s own Breaking Tunes, which will allow you to build a profile and enter HWCH.

Hard Working Class Heroes will once again be calling for photographers to enter the HWCH photos exhibition. This year the photography judging panel will consist of editors / art directors from major publications….
Closing date for entries for both will be July 30th and more details of how to apply will be available at the launch.

The Hard Working Class Heroes festival has become the Irish independent music industry’s most telling barometer.  It is a perfect opportunity to spot emerging acts as well as a chance to see more established artists perform in full festival spirit without having to buy a tent. HWCH is Ireland’s favourite festival dedicated to Irish bands. Once again music industry figures from around the world will be invited to attend and get involved in the festival and to experience firsthand the breadth of talent in Ireland.
