Frantic Jack, Firefly

Hailing from Edenderry and Dundalk, this is the first of, hopefully, several releases from this band. Putting their best foot forward, Frantic Jack have started to create some ripples amongst the independent Irish media, pending the release of their single, Firefly. Slated for the 23rd of October, the four piece recently appeared on Balcony TV to showcase their new song.

Daragh Fitzgerald, vocalist and guitarist, leads the band through a comfortable folk-rock style song. Pauric Hurst, James Kearney and Mark Duffy form the rhythm sections and backing vocals, helping to flesh out a tune that should easily get some mainstream radio attention. Paying homage to the approach of several other indie/rock bands, Daragh‘s vocal technique contains shadows of Counting Crows, overall making the song very accessible. Having only heard one other song, Vancouver, to use as a comparison, it’s clear that these lads have mapped out their own defined writing style.

Following the release of Firefly on the 23rd of October, Frantic Jack will be embarking on an Irish tour. It would be definitely worth checking them out.
