In the build up for their gig, this Sunday, at the Holy Joe’s Infernal Cabaret in the Think Tank (formerly the Hub), Temple bar for the GigEvent podcast on Mixtape, Fearghal McKee and the Shitty Shit Shits have sent some music to Drop-d for all to hear.

The gig takes place during the podcast filming between 4pm and 9pm this Sunday 9th August and it’s free in.

Born out of a chance meeting and quickly performing their first gig two weeks later, one half of Whipping Boy: Fearghal McKee (vocals) and Colm Hassett (drums) are back doing what they do best. Based in Leitrim the Irish rock legends are joined by a bassist, guitarist and a multi-instrumentalist encompassing wind instruments and guitar.

The new tracks are I Don’t Come From MySpace At All and Who Can You Thank If You Can’t Thank God, the many Whipping Boy fans who have eagerly awaited to hear some new material from Fearghal can make up their own minds on the new band. But it’s clear from the first word that he still possesses the same unique quality that has made him a revered lyrical genius in many people’s eyes.

Rather than trying to relive former glories the new band are not trying to re-invent the sound of Whipping Boy they deliver with a raw, punky, take-no-prisoners attitude. Having witnessed their first gig back in June Drop-d can assure you that in the live setting, McKee is as unpredictable as ever with a stage presence you can’t take your eyes off.

The gig takes place in the Think Tank (underneath the Mezz) in Temple Bar between 4pm and 9pm this Sunday, August 9th and as always it’s a freebie.

Also performing at the Holy Joe’s Infernal Cabaret are Sound Proof, Blue Syndrome, Marie Conniffe and Dublin Monkey.
