Day, Muse and maybe a touch of, I dunno… Radiohead, or something. I can’t quite put my finger on it. So, I’m going to talk about the tunes from their recent EP that are both good, but are also accessible to you, the reader, on MySpace.
But enough flaffing around. Let’s get into this shit. At first glance, the tunes are full of energy, upbeat little ditties. However, you have to wait until the songs warm up before they really bloom. And the breakdowns would bring a tear to your eye. The song structures throw a sly glance at music from much heavier era, obvious in the final bars of A Girl Called Murder. Rather than crushing your skull with heaviness, they go for that Therapy style catchiness. Definite single material there. EP opener, Chinatown (not a dodgy Thin Lizzy cover) and Krakaoa are also worth checking out. Although, Roll Royale really stands out, with it’s galloping chorus and mellow verse. Definitely one to watch.
Drop-d Rating 8/10
