Ash – Ichiban Video Released
The official promo clip for Ichiban was uploaded to YouTube yesterday, the trio’s first video of the new decade.
Ash‘s latest single in their A-Z Series of 7″s and downloads, Ichiban, is a maddeningly catchy affair, recalling the power-pop trio’s days atop the Britrock pile. The official promo clip was uploaded to YouTube yesterday, their first video of the new decade.
Created on a staggering budget of eight whole American dollars, the video features spliced footage from British B-movie Gorgo, which itself draws heavily on creature features such as Godzilla and King Kong.
The single can also be heard, along with snippets from past and future singles in the series and a free download of “prologue” single Return of White Rabbit, at the band’s official website.
Since splitting from career-long label Infectious Records following their handling of Ash’s last conventional album, Twilight of the Innocents, the Northern Irish triumvirate of Tim Wheeler (guit/vox), Mark Hamilton (bass) and Rick McMurray (drums), have been at work releasing individual songs in the time- honoured single format, an admitted strength of the band.
The first series, tagged alphabetically, has reached “H”, with Ichiban‘s follow-up, Space Shot, due next week.
You can witness the effects magic in the video below.
The Ash Files – Ash downloads forum with bootlegs, demos, B-sides and more covering the band’s history. Contributions made by the boys themselves.
