The promise of three days exposure to mostly unknown music, bouncing through the charming surrounds of Blessington lake was what enticed me to the Knockanstockan festival in the first place. The appeal is clear: 144 bands, 4 stages, 3 days, 65 euro; a celebration for 3,000 soon-to-be close friends, volunteers and a gross of artists, bound by the lustre and beauty of original, local music.

So where did it all go wrong?
