Get your dancing shoes ready! Because the highly-imaginative dance-punk outfit !!! (Chk Chk Chk) are back on Irish shores, tomorrow July 8, 2009 as part of their short European summer tour. And they are destined to inject some fun into our city’s psyche. The Brooklyn (via Oregon and California)-based group produce music in the dance-punk vein, but with soulful lyrics and energy so good: it leaves you startled.
Their third album Myth Takes (2007) showed that they had harvested an abundance of immeasurable energy. Energy and spirit that was long pinned for by music-lovers and that consequently propelled them to the near-mainstream; due to a swarming allegiance of new European fans.
They will be treating audiences to a variety of their bombastic sound that spans from their first release almost 12 years ago to their forthcoming album due out at the end of July.
The band formed in 1996, in sunny Sacramento, California, from a combination of members of local groups The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. The Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is a fan of the band and so much so that he added the band to the Chili Peppers 2006 UK tour: a testament to their glowing reviews as a live act.
They will be treating audiences to a variety of their bombastic sound that spans from their first release almost 12 years ago to their forthcoming album due out at the end of July.
Vocalist and drummer John Pugh left the band in 2007 to concentrate on, his other group, Free Blood.
The new !!! album is underway and as with their previous work it promises to be a visual treat as well as a slamming pound of force. They win accolades, wherever they go, for their live performances, so this show is definitely worth the asking price.

I remember downloading Myth Takes when it came out, i almost wore out my laptop speakers by playing it so much. Should be a great show.
Indeed!
Do you not think that the singer has a terrible voice though? I mean he’s great at doing the “ugh! ooff!” stuff that most of the lyrics are but I cringe every time he tries to sing properly.
No time for cringing when there’s groovin’ to be got!!!
I really like it- it’s soulful! anyway I get the feeling that they are more into creating a different sound rather than making it as some great vocalists don’t you?
Actually I’m suprised that !!! even booked an Irish date on their tour. Every band I want to see this summer that’s doing a European tour is totally ignoring Ireland (apart from those playing the electric picnic, but what a bad line up) I blame the promoters. They’ve had it too easy here for too long. In the future I’m hitting Berlin for all my gigs.
Oh I dunno, I wouldn’t mind seeing Errors here but all-round it’s been a pretty good year for bands. The Jesus Lizard and Zu in September! Who do you wanna see? I couldn’t justify the carbon footprint citygighops would entail….
Should be good, im still nto entirely sure how to pronounce them though!
‘Chk Chk Chk!!!’
How did it go?
!!! were amazing, fab gig.Got me in the mood for oxygen getting excited now.
