Dubstep! Late arrivals! Smoking! The continued adventures of Alright the Captain continue!

DAY 7:

We arrived in Haarlem a lot later than we’d anticipated which meant it was a super quick load in to get The Wickets basically straight on stage. After their set we finally got to relax, eat and take in the beautiful venue that is the Patronaat cafe before our Dutch friends Boutros Bubba played a captivating set to a steadily increasing crowd. We played to a pretty packed venue and met a lot of cool people, headliners All Shall Be Well were playing their album release show and captivated the audience with what seemed to be one continuous piece of music reminiscent of explosions in the sky and the odd mogwai comparisons being heard from the crowd, it just didn’t seem like they had played for long enough though.

After the show some of us went next door to the main venue and got taken to the weed stenched backstage area to watch some of Blood for Bloods set at the hardcore festival and Hung out with Zach Hills mate before we had to load the van and make our way to Leiden to stay with our mate Jeroen, so we got baked and spent the night listening to Deerhoof and Bob Log records, just before a few off us crashed in the van by the local post office we realised that we’d left a bag behind us at patronaat so another early start on the agenda now…..

DAY 8:

Waking up in a baking hot van is never the greatest start to the day but it seemed to be the WiFi hotspot for our phones so tinterweb catch up was welcomed while the others slept in Jeroens house. Everyone up and about (and a bit quieter than usual) it was time to track down James’ bag so we hit the road back to Haarlem to check patronaat cafe for it. When we arrived the venue was shut so we had to wait a little while for someone to show up but thankfully when they did the bag was still there, with passport and cash intact and we were back on the road to Heerlen after a quick ice cream pitstop we arrived pretty early at cafe bluff and relaxed with a few beers before setting up for the night as B. the resident DJ played some awesome tunes by Giraffes? Giraffes!, Tera Melos and loads more of our favourite bands.

We opened the show at 10:30 to a packed appreciative room and then got into party mode as Boutros Bubba tore bluff a new hole. The Wickets headlined and played their most “terrifyingly loud” show of the tour. Lots of free drinks later we loaded out of the bar at 3am and made our way to an awesome squat where we tagged the shit out of the walls and had our own dub step party until the early hours…
