A proud day here in Drop-d. Adebisi Shank, those red-clad rock pistons will bring their hop and snarl to the Olympia Theatre tomorrow night in support of the The Real Thing, epic super-band Faith No More.
News of this scoop comes at a particularly auspicious time for Adebisi’s record label The Richter Collective. Along with Jogging, Adebisi Shank will support the highly-anticpated BATS album launch in Andrew’s Lane Theatre this Saturday 29 August. Both Jogging and The Shank have been confirmed to play this year’s Hard Working Class Heroes festival along with several other exciting dates.
Fronted by Mike Patton, FNM have spent 2009 wowing fans across the world on their reunion tour. An Irish return has been a buzzword on the lips of music fans since rumours earlier this year but no word of a warm-up act escaped until a few hours ago. Tickets for tomorrow night’s concert sold out almost instantly and here at Drop-d, we’ve had to take comfort in the fact we won’t be there by indulging in copious amounts of whiskey-laced tea and The Very Best Of…

I’ll be there, Nay. I’ll say hi to FNM for ya.
I’m heading along aswell. I’ll say hi to Adebisi Shank for you.
past few gigs are said to have been amazing!
hope no one tries this: (around 2.40)
*envies*
wow.. that’s an awesome gig for the Shank to get..
fairplay to whoever made that happen!
go on the Shank!
are stage times up anywhere? Mate of mine met Puffy in Edinburgh, that stage diver was a sound engineer…got a dislocated jaw and loads of missing teeth for his poor judgement…ouch!
Mega Heft
Yowch, I wondered how he came from nowhere to reach such a good spot on the stage. Poor fucker, the euphonic perk of his job probably overwhelmed him and sent him….OVER THE EDGE! Fair play to Mike though!
I dunno about stage times but Olympia’s usually 7:30 k/o? Check yo tix. And yep, the last few Adebisi shows have been spectacular; Twisted Pepper with ASIWYFA was like a homecoming of Irish mightiness!
HEFT @ u Benni :p
Nice one, looking forward to seeing A.S., haven’t seen them live yet.
Update from the Richter Collective:
“Adebisi Shank will be on stage at 8pm Sharp Tonight at the Faith No More gig in the Olympia …so excited !!”
…bless.
that was some crack, AS were savage, got the crowd going,
A rocktastic night. Paul said they were better last night than they were in Brixton earlier this year. And Patton was complimentary about the Shank aswell, even if he couldn’t pronounce it (Abedisi).
Great gig. By the way Nay – FNM say hi.
Oh, I’m sure they do. Me and Mike? We go waaaaay back.
I am trying VERY hard to be a good sport and not grow green eyes! What songs were your favourites?
“Caffeine” was my personal favorite, legend of a gig.
I really enjoyed the covers Dearg Doom and War Pigs, and Falling To Pieces and From Out Of Nowhere were classic
Only winding you up, Nay!
Caffeine, definitely. Obviously Epic, Surprise! You’re Dead and Easy. The list could just keep going. There weren’t any bad tracks, barely even ‘less good’ ones. They were on fire!
Paul’s doing up the review, but the set list (not necessarily in the right order, this is off the top of Paul’s head) :
Midnight Cowboy
The RealThing
Land Of Sunshine
Caffeine
Evidence
Midlife Crisis
The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies
Easy
Malpractice
RV
King For A Day
Epic
Diggin The Grave
Just A Man
Surprise! You’re dead
Romance
Stripsearch
Pills In The Morning
Aww no We Care A Lot…their cheesy best!
That’s it! They left the stage, and the mantra became “2nd encore”
hoping for We Care A Lot and From Out Of Nowhere. Or Jizzlobber.
Man I can’t wait for the review. *pokes Paul*
