Since its first post on February 1st, 2005, Drop-d.ie has been all about the music. Beginning in Cork City, Ireland, the blog known affectionately by its contributors past and present as “The D” strived to become an organ for local bands and artists, over time expanding its scope as members came, went and moved. The D has moved home a few times over the course of her existence, and having based operations out of Dublin, Ireland and Katowice, Poland, finds herself resident back on the banks of the Lee, but fear not the curse of provincialism, Drop-d writers come from all over this land of ours and beyond!
And what better place? This floating rock has produced rock ‘n’ roll to make the greatest of them quiver in their boots. Thin Lizzy, The Horslips, The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Rudi, The Only Ones, The Virgin Prunes, The Fatima Mansions, Microdisney, Therapy?, The Whipping Boy, Turn, Ash, Kerbdog, Giveamanakick and far, far more inbetween have proven that time and time and time again. But never truer has it been than today.
Labels like The Richter Collective, Out On a Limb, Invictus Productions, Sarlacc Productions, Psychonavigation, Cold Room, Bluestack Records, and many more besides play host to any number of bands on the rise right now.
Adebisi Shank, Jogging, Enemies, Not Squares, Squarehead, Super Extra Bonus Party, No Monster Club among others keep indie/alternative fresh, thrilling and positively vibrant. Metal and hardcore is imbued with a certain warrior spirit, be it literal, as in the folk of Cruchan, Sirocco and Celtachor, in terms of the road, such as I’ll Eat Your Face, Them Martyrs, or in terms of sheer survival, such as Coldwar, [R]evolution of a Sun, For Ruin, and far more than be concisely listed.
From Cork’s freeform mass of great music, to Galway’s punk rock; from Dublin’s shadier corners to the explosion of outstanding, forward-thinking rock in the North. Every town has a scene, every scene has its heroes. We wanna hear from all of ‘em. We love you all!
And of course, never has it been a better time to carry over your nerdy tendencies into other aspects of culture, and we here at the D keep our square eyes peeled for the most interesting bits and pieces from the worlds of movies, gaming, fashion and more!
Over the past six-plus years, we’ve had a rollercoaster of it. People have come and gone, and a great array of artists and journalists, Irish and international, have graced these e-pages with their presence. And our goal is to ensure quality music and cultural journalism and comment, by fans, for fans, on a strictly non-for-profit basis. Fuck it, why else would you do anything except the love of it? We might stir your pot from time to time, but that’s cool, just let it back at us, we love a good debate. ‘Cause at the end of the day, it’s all subjective!
And that’s what counts. Music for the love of it. And we hope you’ll join us in sharing the love.
Drop-d.ie. Bring the Noise!

Hey guys,
Brian here from the Music Ad Network. I just wanted to drop you a quick email to introduce myself and to extend an invitation to join the Featured Blogger program with the Music Ad Network.
Not sure if you are interested in running advertising on the site but just a quick mail to see if this is something you might be interested in.
The network has been set-up by Brian Kearney & Eugene McGrath, two ex Irish music industry folk, to help music bloggers and smaller music sites make some extra money from their blogs.
We provide music bloggers and music websites with an outsourced advertising sales effort that, from day one provides additional advertising on your blog and income for you.
We are looking for some of the best music blogs in Ireland to join our network before we launch in a few weeks and we would love to have you involved.
There are no costs to you at any point, we negotiate advertising deals on your behalf, allowing you can get on with what you love.
As a result of representing many music bloggers we can negotiate high advertising rates and unique ad formats suitable for blogs.
We look after all the boring stuff like the ad serving, account management, billing, collections, and all other operations required to help you monetize your audience.
Revenue generated from advertising running on your site is paid directly to you at the end of each month.
Is this something you would like to have your site included in?
If you’d like more information or have a few questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Brian Kearney
